We are proud to say that our Wingscapes Birdcam Pro Digital Camera was used to monitor the Orange-Bellied parrots at Melaleuca in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area by the Dept of Primary Industries.
Using the Birdcam Pro Digital Camera on motion detection, with six shots per trigger at one minute intervals, photos were taken of the birds as they came in to feed. The six pictures generally allows enough views to zoom in and get a read of the 6mm high band, with unique colour and lettering combinations to allow the birds to be identified.
At the time of the Study, January 2015 the picture had 15% of the total population at the time. There were about 60 adults left in the wild, though hopefully there were eggs hatching as at the same time.
